21 Day Devotional – Day 21

Scripture: “If you have run with the footmen, and they have wearied you, Then how can you contend with horses? And if in the land of peace, In which you trusted, they wearied you, Then how will you do in the floodplain of the Jordan? (Jeremiah 12:5 NKJV)

Thought: To conclude our 21 days together, I wanted to remind you that you are destined for more than mediocrity and a get-by attitude. God has invested everything to buy you back from the enemy’s hold over your life. You are more than a conquerer, you are strong, courageous and the love of God has been shed abroad in your heart. Don’t fear or be held back today, instead, remember your destiny is way bigger than you can ever accomplish! The picture of running with horses is brilliant because God is calling Jeremiah to more. Wherever you are today, don’t live miserably, look to the future, run with them stallions!

Question to Ponder: What things are wearying me today? Lay them aside and focus on your destiny- Gods purpose for your life.

21 Day Devotional – Day 20

Scripture: Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen. (Matthew 28:19, 20 NKJV)

Thought: Here we have a command and a promise. Jesus instructs us to tell people about Him and teach them how He wants them to live but then He promises to be with us ‘always’. I’m so glad that we aren’t a part of a religion where we have to work and persist alone… Rather we have a relationship with God – He is with us. We don’t need to fear sharing our faith because when we do, He is right there with us.

Today, rest in the unchanging truth that God is with you… Always!

Question to Ponder: Who can you share your faith with today? Pray and ask the Holy Spirit to give you boldness.

21 Day Devotional – Day 19

Scripture: My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing. (James 1:2-4 NKJV)

Thought: Some of you may be going through a trial right now and if you are, I want to remind you this morning that God doesn’t allow us to suffer because He can’t intervene. He allows suffering and trials to increase our threshold for suffering in order that trials can perfect us as people. Life is a journey in which we are being changed from glory to glory, by God, through the vehicle of everyday life – the up’s and the down’s. Don’t beat yourself up today, hold your head high and let joy fill your heart as you remember that God is orchestrating and navigating you in victory!

Question to Ponder: Can I view my trials differently?

21 Day Devotional – Day 18

Scripture: Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. (Hebrews 12:1, 2 NKJV)

Thought: Our reading today speaks of the race that we are in and the requirements for the race. We must lay aside things that slow us down or steal our focus and instead look to Jesus because He is the beginning and the end! He is the start and the finish line! Everything is wrapped up in Him! What are the things that want to pull you away from your faith? Take a moment to bring them to Christ and by the way, when you do- a great crowd of witnesses are cheering you on! The cloud of witnesses is people who have finished their race and now they want to see you make it as well!

Question to Ponder? People are cheering you on… Who are you cheering on today?

21 Day Devotional – Day 17

Scripture: And it shall come to pass afterward That I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh; Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, Your old men shall dream dreams, Your young men shall see visions. (Joel 2:28 NKJV)

Thought: This is a prophetic statement spoken by God to the prophet Joel, so that He could announce to the people of his day, that a day was coming when believers everywhere, would receive the Holy Spirit and be empowered by Him. The Holy Spirit is the third person of the Godhead (Father, Son, Holy Spirit). God wants us to RECEIVE the Holy Spirit and then WALK in His power. Here’s 5 things the Spirit will give you: Boldness to witness, understanding of Gods word, peace with God, joy and a deeper intimacy with God. Receiving the Holy Spirit is not just for super Christians (there aren’t any!), He’s for all of us normal people! Infact, the thirstiest Christian is the best placed for receiving the Holy Spirit. My final thought for you on this today is that God is omnipresent (it means that He is everywhere, see Psalm 139) that means you can receive the Spirit right now! Ask God to fill you – be cheeky! believe with all of your heart that He will and walk in it today!

Question to Ponder: Have you experienced the power of the Holy Spirit?

21 Day Devotional – Day 16

Scripture: But those who wait on the Lord Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint. (Isaiah 40:31 NKJV)

Thought: We can so easily run ahead and go our own way, in our own strength. But God says that making our own path in life doesn’t make us strong, waiting on Him does! Gods strength is limitless and abounding. His strength is His love. God is love.

Question to Ponder: in what ways are you running ahead today, instead of waiting on God? It could be a relationship? Something you want to do at church? Or a habit or problem you want to find freedom from? Wait on the Lord, let His strength fill you!

21 Day Devotional – Day 15

Scripture: And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. (Romans 12:2 NKJV)

Thought: This is a powerful scripture which describes the need for all of us as people to be transformed by repentance and faith, in order that we can demonstrate Gods Kingdom and live in the fruit of His Kingdom. So often, we can miss out on Gods best because our minds aren’t fully committed to God and His ways.

God wants us to prove the perfect will of God (to other people) by living lives that are right before Him. This doesn’t mean that we will be perfect, but it does mean that by not ‘going with the flow’ but by being transformed by changing the way we think about other people, ourselves and ultimately God, we can live lives that truly are pleasing to God. Many people say ‘but everyone is doing it’ – this scripture answers that very statement! Don’t ask what is everyone doing, instead, ask ‘what does God want me to do!?’

Question to Ponder: In what ways do we need to think differently about ourselves? Other people? God? Write them down and pray about them. Make decisions to change.

21 Day Devotion – Day 14

Scripture: For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 6:23 NKJV)

Thought: Sin has wages but God gives gifts. We don’t earn gifts, but we do earn wages! This scripture is reminding us that we will pay a price when we sin, it might not be immediate, but there is always a price to pay. Death is the pay that sin gives us at the end of our lives. Gods gift of salvation, breaks the power of sin and allows us to live for God freely, without working our way to Him. There’s nothing you can do to make God love you more, and there’s nothing you can do to make Him love you less! Today, take a few moments to thank God for His great gift of salvation, ask Him to help you grow in salvation and not live for sin.

Question to Ponder: Have you truly received Gods gift of salvation? If not, why not ask Him now? Receive it, like you would a present when someone holds it out to give you. Your Father, God, wants you to have His gift of salvation and freedom! Let me know if you ask Jesus into your life!

21 Day Devotional – Day 13

Scripture: And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death. (Revelation 12:11 NKJV)

Thought: The book of revelation tells us about the end times and also speaks of our need for a revelation of Jesus Christ. A revelation is when. Something becomes clear that we didn’t understand or see a need for before. It’s like when we go to the opticians and didn’t think we needed glasses, but find out we do!

Everyone of us needs a revelation of Jesus, so do all of our friends and family. Even our enemies need a revelation of Jesus!

This scripture speaks of three things: The blood of Jesus (His death and resurrection), our testimony (what we say about Jesus) and sacrifice (laying down our own agenda).

All three of these things are key ingredients to a life of faith. If we want to truly serve God, we must depend on Jesus and what He has done for us. We must testify and not be ashamed of Him and we must be prepared to give up things that are contrary to what God says in His Word.

Question to Ponder: Are you depending on Jesus? How can you depend on Him more? Are you testifying and sharing what God has done in your life? What can you lay down today to become more like Jesus?

21 Day Devotional – Day 12

Day 12:

Scripture: Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths. (Proverbs 3:5, 6 NKJV)

Thought: Everyone wants direction, we want to know where we are going. Life can present all kinds of opportunities and doors to us, but how do we know which ones to take? How do we know where to go? What kind of relationships to get into? or what career to aim for?

Life is a blank canvas and God wants you to paint, He wants us to have a go and enjoy life! We needn’t be afraid of making mistakes because when we are truly trusting and living for God, He will gives us wisdom and guidance. So go ahead, slap that paint on the canvas. Live the dream. Have a go!
